If you're new to the Jak thing, definitely try before you buy, because not everyone's cut out for life in a desert wasteland. If you liked Jak II, then buy without hesitation: You are this game's audience. It does a little bit of everything but is master of nothing. Jak 3 is a game that has ten ideas which vary in quality and can't decide which ones to focus on. There's a game that has a good idea and executes it pretty well. Sony's two competing products are excellent examples. Jak 3 isn't torture (that is to say, Blinx), but there are better and much more cohesive action / platformer experiences to be had right now. It passes time, but it's not exciting or fun. More importantly, the action at the game's heart is only so-so it's competent in execution, but just doesn't seem terribly compelling to play through. I don't like the story - the characters are contrived and visually unappealing. Many of the disparate elements are good enough by themselves, but they don't come together into a satisfying whole. I also don't hate it I just feel sort of numb. Not Feelin' It Okay, you got me - I'm not a huge fan of Jak 3. The Jak engine can certainly push the polygons. I wish there were some to go along with the gameplay, too (imagine a designer talking about the themes that inspired a level, as you play it), but stuff like this is a good start and will hopefully inspire other developers.

Some unlockables are more like character upgrades than secrets - upgrade a gun's damage, increase its ammo efficiency, and so on. NOTE: Play this ISO on your PC by using a compatible emulator. You can "buy" secrets by collecting the 600 Precursor Orbs scattered throughout the game. Another thing Jak 3 has going for it is a nice selection of unlockable features. It really takes away that feeling of polish the first game had. Jak 3 looks good, sure, but it's too bad that Naughty Dog often chose to sacrifice the framerate so much. Some parts do, to be fair, but more don't. However, there is one fairly hefty drawback - the game doesn't really run at 60 frames per second anymore. The sheer detail of the level geometry is often impressive, and even more so when the surfaces sport pseudo-reflective sheens.

While there is of course loading, it's disguised with elevators and slow-opening doors. They're also much less dingy than before - a victory for fans of brighter palettes. There, you have access to vehicles that you can ride in the Wasteland. The main hub of the game is Spargus City. You have a huge open world in which you can explore and complete story missions, as well as side missions and mini-games. The character animation is as smooth as always, and the worlds are bigger than ever before. Like its predecessor, Jak 3 is a GTA-style sandbox platformer. Now when you think about it, it does not beat Jak 3, but that is of no. Pushing the PS2 As always, Naughty Dog's greatest strength comes in its technology, and Jak 3 is an impressive sight.
